CCEOC Updates
Alex, Elizabeth, and Sean have been working behind the scenes to continue the buildout of "CCEOC 2.0." Our primary focus areas are funding, membership engagement and expansion, and activating as a convener. Details can be found in the 2/22/23 General Membership Meeting Summary.

Member Dinners
Our first member dinner is in the books! It was an absolute pleasure to connect and get to know each other more intimately. We enjoyed casual conversation, and laughs, shared updates regarding our work and business efforts, and discussed how we are maneuvering our personal realities.
Adelphi Bank
The Collective had a strong showing at the Adelphi Bank open house on February 27th. Members present include Carrington Carter, Bo Chilton, Sean Grant, Elizabeth Joy, Kevin Lloyd, Doug McCollough, Jonathan Moody, Jerry Saunders, Alex Shumate, and Archie Williamson.
We are in conversation with Jordan Miller and the Adelphi team to continue our efforts to be an active supporter of Adelphi Bank. They are already active in commercial lending and will soon be officially open for business. Shout out to Jonathan Moody for his part in constructing this beautiful space and to Yohannen Terrell & Chris Jones for the amazing logo!
CCEOC Member Highlight - Derrick Clay, Senior Vice President, Shumaker Advisors Ohio
Derrick was instrumental in the forming of the Columbus CEO Collective as Co-Chair of the Advocacy Working Group and now serves as a Board member.
Derrick’s leadership skills and strong public policy background make him an effective and efficient advocate when assisting clients with government and regulatory affairs. Drawing from his combined experience working with legislative and regulatory matters, Derrick guides his clients through the complexities of the social, economic, and political landscape of government.
Prior to joining Shumaker Advisors, Derrick spent nearly two decades with the government relations and lobbying firm, New Visions Group, where he started as Vice President and Partner in 2004, and moved into the position of CEO when he acquired the firm in 2014.
Derrick’s previous experience also includes serving as Midwest Political Director for the Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee, Ohio State Director for the Gore-Lieberman 2000 Presidential Campaign, serving as a member of the historic Florida Recount Committee, and Executive Director of the Ohio Legislative Black Caucus, among other leadership roles.
Guided by the principles of accountability, responsibility, focus, and teamwork, Derrick’s passion for business and politics dates back to his days as president of the Undergraduate Student Government at the University of Akron.
A graduate of the University of Akron, Derrick is a registered lobbyist and is affiliated with the Ohio Lobbying Association and Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity, Inc. He is a regular political commentator on WOSU’s Columbus on the Record and WCMH NBC 4’s The Spectrum television programs.
A resident of Columbus, Derrick enjoys cooking, golf, music, traveling, and spending time with his wife Sydnee and their children Kennedy, Kole, and Ethan.

Derrick Clay - Derrick was named Vice Chair of the Columbus Chamber of Commerce Board of Directors. He was also recently featured on 10TV.
Bo Chilton - Bo was awarded CEO of the Year.
